Browse France Nuage with S3 Explorer

France Nuage runs S3-compatible object storage on Ceph RADOS Gateway, hosted in France. There is a single endpoint and no region in the hostname, so the region field is a label the gateway accepts rather than a place your data goes. Obtaining keys is the slow part: object storage does not appear on the published price list.

A filled-in example

Every value below is fabricated — they are shaped like real France Nuage credentials so you can recognise yours, and they authenticate nothing.

RADOS Gateway issues a 20-character access key and a 40-character secret, so a real pair has this shape without being this pair.

Where each value comes from

Endpoint

Single endpoint: https://s3.france-nuage.fr (path-style).

Credentials

In the France Nuage console (console.france-nuage.fr), create an access key for object storage.

Notes

S3-compatible object storage on Ceph RadosGW, hosted in France. Egress is announced at €0.

What usually goes wrong

The region is a label, not a location

A single endpoint serves the whole service, so the region never reaches DNS. S3 Explorer sends us-east-1, which RADOS Gateway deployments commonly accept as their default zonegroup name. If a request comes back complaining about the region, try default instead — the data stays in France either way.

No bucket notifications

France Nuage states that its gateway ships without native SNS, SQS or Lambda triggers. Nothing in S3 Explorer depends on them, but a workflow built around S3 events elsewhere has to be rebuilt around polling here.

Keys may go through a sales conversation

Object storage is absent from the public pricing page, and the storage page offers a quote or a demo rather than a sign-up. Budget for that exchange before planning a migration: the connection takes a minute, getting the credentials may not.
